And now a message from the heart from our Volunteer Director Jill Massey:
Today on Volunteer Recognition Day, Wichita Festivals would like to remind all of our volunteers that we would not be successful without all of you!
It takes over 5,000 volunteers to put on Riverfest and over 500 volunteers to put on Autumn & Art. With a staff of nine, we truly mean we cannot put on an event without our volunteers!
I would like to take this opportunity to send a massive ‘thank you’ to each and every one of the incredible people who volunteer their time to help us put on our events at Wichita Festivals. I have witnessed the best of what human beings can be, in the way of creativity, innovation, courage, endurance and perseverance. I have found that as long as there is a need, there is always a way forward. In our Wichita Festivals World, it doesn’t matter if it’s reassembling a gazebo after it has been damaged by graffiti; setting up miles of fence; delivering tables and chairs; working a ticket booth; hauling 100s of pounds of ice or selling a button, our volunteers will make it happen with a smile.
Here is a poem that reminds me of all of our volunteers:
Doing the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
For all the people you can,
As long as you ever can.
I am honored to be witness to an endless willingness to step forward if help is needed in any area. Thank you each and every volunteer for making my job so much fun!
Happy Volunteer Recognition Day!
